Bubble Stationary Project

Kids Love Bubbles! And with this kid friendly project, they can turn those bubbles into one of a kind stationary.

The timing for this could not be better with Mother’s Day, Nurse Appreciation Week, and Teacher Appreciation Week all just around the corner. In 20 minutes, you can turn some plain cards and envelopes into a fun activity and decorative card to give for these, or any occasion.

Table with supplies needed for a craft project

Supplies Needed (pictured above):

  • Plastic straws cut in half - one for each color
  • Small shallow dishes or bowls
  • Water
  • Dish soap
  • Food coloring, bold colors work best
  • Any of the following - White paper, white cardstock, store bought greeting card printed onto white paper, white envelope

Directions:

  1. Cover the work surface as needed so the food coloring does not stain anything.
  2. Gather the papers that will be decorated and choose what food coloring colors you will use.
  3. For each color, put a little water, a small amount of dish soap, and a squirt of food coloring into a dish, stirring gently to mix.
  4. Have the kids get a straw, put one end in the mixture and start blowing gently. (It should be like how kids sometimes blow bubbles into their milk.)
  5. As soon as the bubbles pile up so that they are higher than the edge of the bowl, take the paper, hold it horizontal, and tap it onto the bubbles.
  6. Repeat with all of the colors, over lapping them and covering as much of the paper as you want until you are happy with the way it looks.
